IBS Dietary Changes

Dairy products, such as milk and cheese should be avoided as those result in elevated production of lactose that causes constipation. The entire diet should be protein-based with a limited consumption of alcohol.

The bowel undergoes a lot of stress for patients who are experiencing irritable bowel syndrome so it is best to reduce the stress as much as possible. A healthy diet can help reduce the need for medications or surgery over time.
